Pre-light Experience

The Plasencia Alma Fuerte Robustus has a lovely press and it is almost a combination of mold and box pressed with the soft edges. It has a nice triple cap and medium to large veins throughout. The wrapper is quite dark, Maduro to Oscuro in coloring, and it is rough in texture showing some tooth. The aroma is of sweet earth, spices, floral qualities and earth on the wrapper, and the foot is giving off some fruit bread, strong earth, minerals and cocoa.

First Third

The first third has a nice beginning and it starts by delivering some licorice/anise notes. There is some dark cocoa powder present, and with that is some leather, toast, black pepper and fruitiness. I would classify the cigar as having a medium-full body and being medium in strength.

Second Third

I am in the second third of the cigar now and it is showing some floral and dark cocoa powder qualities. There is some earthiness as well, and it continues with that anise/licorice and fruity quality. The fruitiness is showing some fruit bread and stone fruit qualities. There are some Asian spice qualities present on the finish, and like before it is medium-full in terms of body and medium in strength.

Final Third

I am in the final third now and it is a darker and bolder third. I am getting some dark chocolate flavors and with that is some rich earth, toast, black coffee and licorice. Nice transitioning in this third, and a much bolder third than the previous two. I would classify this third as being medium-full to full in body, and medium-full in strength.

The robusto smoked perfectly from start to finish, and the ash held on firmly for nearly the entire first half of the cigar. It produce a lovely light gray color to it, and even in the second half of the cigar it smoked great.

The draw was fairly solid on the cigar. I would have preferred it to be a little bit snugger than it was, but at no point did it produce a problem or was the draw too loose in my opinion.

I strongly believe if you are a fan of the Alma Fuerte line you will love this cigar. I believe it takes the line to a whole new level and is easily the best offering. I have never been sold on the Alma Fuerte line, I couldn’t fully get behind it, but I am into this offering. The flavors really pop on this size and it is so much more approachable as a cigar overall. The Plasencia Alma Fuerte Robustus is quite inviting. I don’t find the strength to be as much as some do with this line, but the body is definitely present and with that is a great amount of flavors. Complex with some awesome transitioning and depth throughout, the cigar will not disappoint.
