Personal Cigar Review: H. Upmann 175th Anniversary

Personal Cigar Review: H. Upmann 175th Anniversary

Overall, the H. Upmann 175th Anniversary was average throughout. I was looking forward to this specially fermented wrapper, but it was run over by the typical AJ Fernandez flavor profile which was disappointing. The flavor profile and price will likely steer me away from revisiting. I'd love to see this wrapper used by another blender just to see what it could do.

Team Cigar Review: Villiger La Vencedora Churchill

Team Cigar Review: Villiger La Vencedora Churchill

The knock on longer cigars like this Villiger La Vencedora Churchill is maintaining enjoyment from the flavor profile as long as possible and this one did pretty well. This vitola is a good offering in the line, and while it wouldn't be my first choice in vitola to pick up, I'd have no problem smoking it again.

Team Cigar Review: Joya de Nicaragua Cinco Decadas El General

Team Cigar Review: Joya de Nicaragua Cinco Decadas El General

Like the Diademas reviewed in 2018, the Joya de Nicaragua Cinco Decadas El General is also a good cigar. Compared to the Diademas, I found the El General isn't as balanced within providing sweetness, earth and spice. But nonetheless, this is a great cigar in which I will be visiting time and time again.

Team Cigar Review: Jas Sum Kral Kralot Robusto Extra

Team Cigar Review: Jas Sum Kral Kralot Robusto Extra

This is another good cigar from JSK. I especially enjoyed the leveling sharpness of cedar throughout the cigar as it intermingled with cocoa, dry earth, soil/dirt and hints of sweet cherries. Although I did enjoy the Jas Sum Kral Kralot Robusto Extra, there is tough competition of some excellent (new) Mexican San Andres cigars I smoked this year.

Team Cigar Review: Foundation The Wise Man Maduro Churchill

Team Cigar Review: Foundation The Wise Man Maduro Churchill

In the story of the Foundation The Wise Man Maduro Churchill, the cigar showed no signs of being sharp or being rough around the edges. Flavors of Mexican hot chocolate powder, cedar and bread worked very well together, keeping my attention for the entire, longer smoke. The strength does sneak up, as by the end of the cigar, sugar was required.

Team Cigar Review: Joya de Nicaragua Antaño Gran Reserva Presidente

Team Cigar Review: Joya de Nicaragua Antaño Gran Reserva Presidente

The Presidente format of the Antaño Gran Reserva, like the Belicoso, is a tasty cigar. For such a big cigar, I would have appreciated more transitions. The good part is, the Presidente from start to finish was a good and consistent profile that will make the 2.5 hours of smoking time go by before you know it.

Team Cigar Review: Illusione Haut 10 Churchill

Team Cigar Review: Illusione Haut 10 Churchill

The flavors themselves were great, delivering ginger biscuits, creamed bread/toast, white pepper, cedar and just enough earthiness. The importance of retrohaling couldn't be more true than this cigar, as if you don't, you will miss out on the depth of flavors.

Personal Cigar Review: God of Fire by Carlito Churchill

Personal Cigar Review: God of Fire by Carlito Churchill

This is a cigar I've had in the humidor for just over six years and it has aged wonderfully. If you've had some of these sitting in the humidor, it's time to grab one to enjoy. I have another one left and I'm looking forward to the time I can reach for it and do this again.

Personal Cigar Review: La Flor Dominicana La Volcada

Personal Cigar Review: La Flor Dominicana La Volcada

The La Flor Dominicana La Volcada began with a lot of promise given the twists and turns of the initial flavors. I wasn't sure which direction the spice would lead but the blender did a great job of bringing it out strong and then dialing it back.

Team Cigar Review: Winston Churchill The Late Hour Churchill

Team Cigar Review: Winston Churchill The Late Hour Churchill

The profile was smooth and flavors engaging throughout the entire smoking time. The only (major) aspect lacking is being able to bring enough of the influence of scotch notes, specifically Speyside scotch notes. I'd love to try this cigar with more barrel time if Davidoff ever chooses to execute such a variant.
