The Davidoff Winston Churchill Limited Edition 2022 delivered a lot of notes in the first third that would engage enthusiasts and die hard Davidoff fans, but the remainder of the cigar is not quite up to the same task for flavor complexity. No doubt that fans of the brand will find enough there to please them, for the rest of us, it isn't quite enough to warrant "Limited Edition" pricing.
The Oliva Serie V 135th Anniversary Edición Limitada was really good through the first half inch as the combination of flavors really fired on all cylinders. After that, things began to degrade as the earth played a bigger role and was average the rest of the way. Overall, I don't see this rendition of the line attracting me more than the regular V's.
I really enjoyed the Room101 Namakubi Ranfla. I thought Booth did a great job of capturing what the Namakubi was, while at the same time delivering the quality that you get with the new Room101 blends out of Tabacalera William Ventura. It smoked like any good Room101 blend has for 11 years. Packaging is just amazing as well.
The United Cigar Abuelo Nieta was fairly engaging in the first third, and provided a rather light-plus and approachable smoking experience for the second and last thirds. Overall, it was a pleasant cigar review, even if the complexity of the flavor profile didn't rise to the category of a Good rating.
I love the cause that goes with the Arturo Fuente Rare Pink Vintage 1960's Short Story, and I love the packaging, but I am not sold on the cigar. The blend has solid core flavors of citrus, cedar and pepper, but I was hoping for a little more. The wrapper is very dominant on the cigar, and it has a nice profile, but I think it needs to be balanced out some and the way to do that is by providing a larger offering.
It's about time I had a legit, tasty review cigar. It's been months! I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Jon Huber and God. The Crowned Heads Four Kicks Capa Especial Águilas LE 2021 is how a cigar should taste. Full in flavors and engaging from initial light to nub.
While I would probably lean towards the non-barber poles in the Hemingway line, the Arturo Fuente Hemingway Between the Lines is a nice variation. The price point is fairly high for the short smoking time, but I could see coming back to this on occasion.
I was really pleased with the Davidoff Tampa Exclusive 2021. A very good cigar from start to finish. The flavors of cedar, cream, coffee and spice throughout were fantastic. It delivered those classic Davidoff flavors that you would get in the Anniversario or Signature, but with a lot more strength. It made me think of a lighter version of the Davidoff Chef’s Edition 50th Anniversary.
The Foundation El Güegüense 5 Year Aniversario overall was a good experience, but I still find myself a bit disappointed. When you consider some of the high performing past Foundation releases, the fact that this is an anniversary cigar, and the price point, I feel that the cigar under performed.
The AVO Regional North Edition provides a nuanced, balanced and engaging cigar experience for at least two thirds, and a pleasant smoking experience for the last. The natural comparison here is going to be to the South Edition, and I gravitate towards the North Edition. One could say it's just a bit more refined.
