I find the La Gran Llave to be like many of AJ's offerings. That is, a profile centered around wood, spice and cream. Nothing truly stands out or is off-putting about the cigar. I do wish the profile reached further depth in spice with the smoking experience matching closer to the pre-light experience.
For me, this would be a fit for a last cigar in a multiple cigar smoking day and I could see revisiting it from time to time.
This is another nice addition to the Southern Draw portfolio and a good lancero is always a treat. I'll definitely be enjoying more of these and can easily recommend this to others.
AJ never makes a bad cigar in his vast portfolio, and this cigar is another shining example of such. I can see many enjoying this cigar with its straight forward and linear approach in flavors.
I especially enjoyed the consistent mixture of wood and pepper. Robert Holt's time away from this year's IPCPR proved fruitful in the Code Duello Limitada 2016 Firethorn.
The strength is up there, so newer smokers or those that like milder cigars may want to take caution, but if you like fuller strength cigars, this is a must try. I highly recommend that you seek one of these out.
Foundation Cigar Co., as expected by most, creates a tasty Connecticut Broadleaf cigar. This is a good example of what a Connecticut Broadleaf cigar should be; chewy and dirty, medium full / full bodied cigar.
The lancero was actually rolled at the same time as the other sizes. With limited release, it was kind of kept under wraps. Most people didn't really know the size existed.
This was a great cigar that I can smoke all day. Well rounded body and flavors providing sweetness, spice, bitterness, delicious retrohale and finish. Nick Melillo blends a killer Connecticut shade cigar!
