Two new lines titled ARTISTA Harvest and ARTISTA Midnight will debut in 2022 with many more to come. The ARTISTA Series represents the factory’s premium and future super-premium blends. Each blend is represented by a moniker and matching color, each are distinct in strength and profile.
Artista Cigars has a new style, and a new approach to managing the portfolio by segmenting the existing SKUs into a collection of Series. In 2022 there are five series: ARTISTA (Harvest & Midnight), Rugged Country (Buffalo TEN, Cimarron, FUGLY Cheroots), Factory Classics (Pulita, Puro Ambar, Exactus), David Ortiz (Big Papi, The Slugger), and Artista Studio Works.
Overall, it was a great experience, and I appreciated that part of it involved food, culture and getting to know the Dominican Republic better.
El Artista Cigars announces the creation and launch of Artista Studio Works. Artista Studio Works (ASW) is a collaborative effort between the El Artista Factory and Dominican Artists from all mediums. ASW seeks to bring the life and culture of the Dominican Republic to the rest of the world through works of art and inspiration.
Dubbed the Fugly Claro, the new blend stays true to the Fugly concept of the freehand cowboy-style cigar and features El Artista’s own Dominican Corojo Claro wrapper, no binder, and a combination of strong long-leaf ligero tobaccos from the USA and Dominican Republic.
Overall, the El Artista Buffalo Ten is a really good cigar. I am just looking at the price on this smoke and shocked. I will be interested in seeing how this cigar smokes from sample to sample, the two I smoked were great, but that will be the key. Love finding smokes like this.
Buffalo TEN is a complex blend composed of six different tobaccos from across The Americas and Caribbean. Buffalo TEN features a toothy Mexican San Andres maduro wrapper and a rich Dominican Negrito binder. The filler blend is sourced from USA, Colombia, and the company’s own fields in the Dominican Republic.
The El Artista Cimarron Maduro Robusto has a reasonable list of flavors including cocoa, baking spices, cedar, earth, vegetal notes, minerality and some sweetness. Unfortunately, the cigar struggles to harmonize throughout the experience, with the middle third being the most organized for me.
For a cheroot, the El Artista Fugly smoked pretty well. The flavors were pretty average, but for this price point, it's got some good value. I'd have no problem smoking this as a kick around cigar when I'm looking for decent flavor but not able to pay much attention to it.
For me, the El Artista Cimarron Connecticut Robusto is more towards the traditional side of Connecticut shade cigars. The baseline flavors of sweet cream and bread are notes I always welcome to any cigar. Paired with white pepper, cedar, hay, nuts and underlying bitterness rounds out to a profile in which I can enjoy any time of the day.
