Pre-light Experience

The wrapper on the Punch Brotherhood The People’s Champ Brobusto is dark brown with a hint of red and has a network of raised veins that carry a slightly lighter color. The seams are a bit raised and the head has a top cap with some lifting edges and wrinkles. There are two bands, both red, white and gold. The primary has the brand name and Mr. Punch on it while the secondary denotes the line. The aroma from the wrapper is a mix of wood and earth while the foot brings breadiness and mild spice. The pre-light draw brings a light cedar note.

First Third

The cigar begins with toasted oak and some slightly sharp black pepper. At a quarter inch in, the toast level has become very heavy and a light earthiness has joined in. The retrohale is toasted oak with light amounts of earth and black pepper. At an inch in, the black pepper has lost the sharpness. As the third comes to a close, the profile is toasted oak up front with earth and black pepper a bit behind. The strength was right at medium.

Second Third

As the second third begins, the earth has become even with the toasted oak up front. The retrohale remains toasted oak with light amounts of earth and black pepper. As the third wraps up, it maintains the profile of toasted oak and earth even up front with black pepper a bit behind. The strength remained at medium.

Final Third

As the final third begins, the toast becomes heavy again. At a quarter inch in, the black pepper is now very mild. The retrohale is now just toasted oak and dry earth. At half an inch in, a light mintiness joins. As the cigar wraps up, the profile is heavily toasted oak and dry earth even up front with light black pepper and mintiness in the background. The strength bumped up to slightly above medium.

Burn

The burn was a bit wavy at times, but never needed any intervention. The ash held on in inch and a half increments.

Draw

The draw was perfect, with just the right amount of resistance that I prefer.

Overall

The cigar began with toasted oak and some slightly sharp black pepper. Light earthiness joined a bit later and the pepper lost the sharpness. The final third saw a light mintiness join in. The Punch Brotherhood The People’s Champ Brobusto had an average and basic flavor profile throughout. Nothing that really grabbed my attention. If you’re a budget smoker, this may be something to look at, but if you don’t mind spending more, I’d pass on this one as it’s not a cigar I’d see myself coming back to.
