The 601 La Bomba Warhead X had an average flavor profile throughout and became a bit mundane about halfway through. A very earth driven profile that didn't really provide any excitement. Not one of my favorite Warheads and not a cigar I'd see myself coming back to.
The 601 Orange Toro had a nice start with a good combination of flavors. From the second third on, the profile dropped a level as some components had departed and the earth gained a bigger role. This was a fairly average smoking experience after the first third and not a cigar I'd see myself coming back to with any regularity.
There's a good array of flavors to be enjoyed within the first third, but as the cigar progressed, the momentum was lost and the flavor package fell apart. Nothing displeasing about the flavors in themselves. It's just that there wasn't enough ingredients to make the 601 Yellow Toro a banger.
Both the 601 Orange and 601 Yellow will MSRP for $10.00 (Box of 10 cigars for $100) and were blended by Espinosa Premium Cigars, and hand-rolled at the La Zona Factory in Esteli, Nicaragua.
The 601 La Bomba The Wick Habano was an enjoyable, full strength and full bodied experience. The intense pepper and spice was balanced with chocolate and sweetness, along with earth accents. I really enjoyed the 601 La Bomba The Wick Habano despite the distractions of re-lighting. I wonder how well it would have performed if that wouldn't have been necessary, but I would happily smoke it again.
The 601 Black Connecticut Toro is a very good cigar. It delivers Connecticut qualities, but with more complexity, body and strength. It brings me back to 2007/2008 when manufacturers and brand owners were delivering stronger Connecticut offerings. The days of "this isn't your father's Connecticut," and I love that. It has this old-school nouveua quality which I can get behind.
The Warhead VI is the newest iteration in the Warhead series. First released in 2013, the Warhead is a full-bodied cigar packed with creamy sweetness and delicious spice. The cigar is blended by Espinosa Premium Cigars at AJ Fernandez’s San Lotano Factory in Ocotal, Nicaragua.
When you consider the high level review performance for Espinosa cigars, it sets a challenging bar for releases to meet. Compared to those consistently great releases, the 601 Blue Label Maduro Toro ends up being an average cigar. That isn't to say it's a bad cigar, because it is enjoyable, and the powdered cocoa flavors are going to appeal to a very broad smoking audience.
In a market where there is quite a lack of thin ring gauge cigars (especially Connecticut broadleaf ones), this one provides enough uniqueness that warrants a must try.
