Appearance

The Collective Arts Mash Up The Jam comes in a red and multi-colored can with artwork that looks like cell cultures. The beer itself pours like passion fruit juice.

Aroma

Nosing the fresh poured beer delivers passion fruit, and hints of lemon and grapefruit underneath.

Flavor

During each sip, the sour flavors hit first and then finishes with citrus. There is a sweetness but it is subdued against the hop and citrus notes. Both the sour and citrus components are at a light-plus strength.

Balance

All the components of sweetness, hops and citrus are very balanced against each other.

Finish

The finish isn’t overly complex, with a medium-long sour citrus finish to each sip.

Overall

Collective Arts Mash Up The Jam is a blend between the styles of a sour and an IPA. Unfortunately, I never thought the beer established it’s identity between the two styles.
