Appearance

The Collective Arts Liquid Art Fest has a light blue can with a red skull on yellow background. The beer pours like a tropical fruit punch, with an almost fluorescent yellow color, and loads of carbonation.

Aroma

Even while pouring the beer, I smell big notes of fresh mango. The aroma is so intense I’m able to smell it several feet back from the glass.

Flavor

The initial sips are quite subdued, especially compared to the big aroma. The more I continue to sip, I find the mango very mild. There is an effervescent mouthfeel.

Balance

The fruit, hops and sweetness are all balanced. I was expecting an overwhelming mango flavor or passion fruit, but instead all the flavors are very mild. I wouldn’t have been disappointed if the balance instead was massive tropical fruit notes overwhelming the profile.

Finish

Each sip finishes citrusy with a hint of bitter orange rind. The bitterness fades as the beer warms up and progresses.

Overall

The Collective Arts Liquid Art Fest has a bold tropical fruit aroma, but ends up being very balanced. I found the flavor profile didn’t do much for me in terms of complexity, but this could easily be a crushable session beer in the summer season.
