Rocky Patel Dark Star Robusto

Team Cigar Review: Rocky Patel Dark Star Robusto

Hey, this Honduran Corojo is purdy good. It has that nice pepper spice through the nostrils, but the accompanying depth of stone fruit and mixed nuts wraps it up very well. I wasn't a big fan of the stale cedar in general, but for the majority of the cigar it was tampered quite well. No doubt will be happy to smoke this Rocky Patel Dark Star Robusto again.

Team Cigar Review: Rocky Patel DBS Robusto

Team Cigar Review: Rocky Patel DBS Robusto

I must have missed the memo on companies going Double Broadleaf in 2022. There have been hits and misses with these releases, but the Rocky Patel DBS Robusto is a true hit. Almost sunk my battleship. The cigar had transitioning throughout and a cornucopia of complex flavors. Great strength and balance as well. I think the only low point was the draw, but a great blend overall.

Team Cigar Review: Rocky Patel The Edge 20th Anniversary Robusto

Team Cigar Review: Rocky Patel The Edge 20th Anniversary Robusto

I thought the Rocky Patel The Edge 20th Anniversary Robusto delivered some interesting and tasty flavors that combined in ways to keep me engaged through most of the review. Being a big fan of the various other Edge offerings, I was eager to try the 20th Anniversary edition, and I would come back to this.

Personal Cigar Review: Rocky Patel Sixty Toro

Personal Cigar Review: Rocky Patel Sixty Toro

The Rocky Patel Sixty Toro had an average flavor profile throughout with just some slight transitioning to the levels of flavors that were focused around toasted oak, earth and black pepper. This is the second vitola in the line that I've reviewed, and I prefer the Robusto a bit better as it started off on a higher note. I don't really see myself coming back to this cigar.

Team Cigar Review: Rocky Patel White Label Toro

Team Cigar Review: Rocky Patel White Label Toro

This is the ideal Connecticut shade flavor profile I look for. Soft notes galore, with sweetness and creaminess upfront, and accented wood and spice notes. But I have a major gripe about this Rocky Patel White Label Toro. The price tag of $20 for a Connecticut shade is a bit ridiculous. But I'll push that aside and will weigh more on the actual (more important) flavor experience.

Team Cigar Review: Rocky Patel Sixty Robusto

While I thoroughly enjoyed the first third, the latter two thirds showed too much leather without backing it up with other notes. The Rocky Patel Sixty Robusto has a good number of flares (triple bands, nice quality wrapper), but I don't care about that, as I'm only concerned about the flavor delivery. So given that perspective, the higher $16 price point just doesn't deliver.

Team Cigar Review: Rocky Patel Disciple Bala

Team Cigar Review: Rocky Patel Disciple Bala

The Rocky Patel Disciple Bala delivers quite the visual spectacle for the pre-light, and there is a time through the first third where the cigar shows promise, unfortunately the dark and earthy nature of the profile just becomes palate fatiguing for the remainder of the review. Although I do really enjoy full bodied cigars, the Bala seemed to provide strength at the expense of flavor complexity.

Team Cigar Review: Rocky Patel Cigar Smoking World Championship Robusto

Team Cigar Review: Rocky Patel Cigar Smoking World Championship Robusto

The Rocky Patel Cigar Smoking World Championship Robusto was a fairly average flavor profile overall, with the most interesting components coming in the first third. Notes of cedar, powdered cocoa, baking spices and graham cracker. For a cigar that is built around slow smoking, I found the smoking time to be a stretch to make the 1 hour and 30 minute mark.

Team Cigar Review: Rocky Patel Number 6 Robusto

Team Cigar Review: Rocky Patel Number 6 Robusto

The Rocky Patel Number 6 Robusto reinforces my experience that cigars comprised largely of Honduran tobacco are either amazing or lackluster. For me, the flavor profile started out promising in the first third, and then fell to average and fairly forgettable for the remainder of the smoking experience.

Team Cigar Review: Rocky Patel Aged Limited Rare Second Edition Robusto

Team Cigar Review: Rocky Patel Aged Limited Rare Second Edition Robusto

The Rocky Patel Aged Limited Rare Second Edition Robusto has a very impressive presentation, I only wish the same care had been taken with the blend profile. Unfortunately, the flavor profile rapidly falls apart after the first third, eventually becoming harsh and unpleasant by the final third. The construction was impeccable.
