The Diesel Sunday Gravy San Marzano was about what I expected from the brand at this price point, a bundle type flavor profile. While the first third was average, it went downhill from there and isn't something that was all that enjoyable. If you're a Diesel fan or a bundle smoker, give it a try, but I can't see myself coming back to this.
The first Fool’s Errand release is called “Stubborn Fool.” Blended by AJ Fernandez and Justin Andrews, this full-bodied expression is made with a highly-sought-after Connecticut Broadleaf that has been used in previous Diesel releases. The filler is a hardy blend of Honduran and Nicaraguan tobaccos beneath a Honduran Jamastran binder.
Blended by AJ Fernandez and Justin Andrews and handcrafted at Tabacalera AJ Fernandez in Esteli, Nicaragua, Diesel Sunday Gravy Rosamarino features a Nicaraguan Habano wrapper over a Nicaraguan Habano Condega binder and blend of three, Nicaraguan fillers from Esteli, Ometepe and Condega.
The Diesel Crucible is a solid cigar and a strong one at that. It is not my cup of tea, due to the strength, but it is right in line with the Diesel brand and a cigar I could enjoy from time to time. This is an evening cigar for me.
Sunday Gravy will be a full-time line under Diesel, and will feature seasonally-released, Nicaraguan-forward smokes, blended and handcrafted through Diesel’s winning partnership of AJ Fernandez and Justin Andrews. Blends will be released quarterly, sold until their limited supply is deleted and offered at an unbelievable suggested retail price of less than $5.00 per cigar.
Available exclusively for TAA members, Diesel Disciple comes in a Lancero (7” x 38) and will sell at retail for an SRP of $8.99 per cigar or $89.90 per ten-count box. Diesel Disciple will be available at retail this July and will be sold through The Forged Cigar Company.
The Diesel Estelí Puro Robusto was a medium-full to full bodied experience that didn't skimp on complexity through the first and second thirds. This is the essence of the Diesel brand that I came to enjoy many, many years ago. What I appreciated is that the cigar brought intensity and strength, but didn't do it at the expense of a range of flavors.
Each of the tobaccos that comprise Diesel Estelí Puro were hand-selected from AJ’s farms to meet specific requirements set forth by the Diesel team. The wrapper was harvested from La Lilia, the binder from San José and the fillers from several plots including AJ’s celebrated San Lotano farm.
Diesel Delirium is a powerful cigar. One of the most powerful cigars I have had this year, and the most powerful of the Diesel releases I have smoked, it is a full strength and body cigar that comes with matching flavors. If you are looking for a beast of a cigar, I suggest picking one of these up and then waiting for the sweet spot at the finish.
