Pre-light Experience

The wrapper on the Nat Sherman Timeless Limited Edition 2019 is a bit on the lighter side of medium brown and carries a couple of slightly raised veins. The seams are easily visible as they are slightly raised as well, while the head is finished with a well applied set of caps. There are three bands, with the primary being the newer design for the line but has a gold strip at the bottom that designated Limited Edition. The secondary strip band has the same color combination as the primary and denotes the year, while the third strip band is gold with navy text and denotes the company. The aroma from the wrapper is lightly sweet hay while the foot brings wood, tobacco sweetness and black tea. The pre-light draw brings a lightly sweet but dry cedar.

First Third

The cigar begins with a dry and spicy cedar. At a quarter inch in, a toasted note joins the cedar. At a half inch in, a light black pepper joins the profile. At an inch in, a bit of chalkiness joins in. The retrohale is a mix of cedar, mustiness and chalkiness. At an inch and a quarter, the profile is toasted cedar with a light mix of mustiness, chalkiness and black pepper. At an inch and three quarters, the mustiness has a lead over the toasted cedar and light black pepper as the chalkiness has dropped from the profile. The strength in this third was slightly below medium.

Second Third

As the second third begins, the light chalkiness returns as the black pepper has departed. At a half inch in, the pepper has returned as the chalkiness has left. At an inch in, the mustiness still has the lead over the toasted cedar and faint black pepper. The retrohale is musty cedar with faint chalkiness. As the third comes to a close, the profile now has the toasted cedar and mustiness even as the black pepper has dropped out. The profile is now a bit dry. The strength in this third remained at slightly below medium.

Final Third

As the final third begins, some dry earth joins the profile and increases the dryness of the overall profile. At three quarters of an inch in, the profile maintains the toasted cedar and mustiness even with the dry earth slightly behind. The retrohale has the same components except they are all even. At an inch in, some char replaces the toasted note. As the cigar wraps up, it warms up a bit, bringing a slight mintiness to the charred cedar and mustiness. The strength in this third remained at slightly below medium.

Burn

The burn line was slightly wavy at times but never needed any attention. The ash held on through each third.

Draw

The draw was slightly tighter than I prefer but didn’t cause any issues with the smoking experience.

Overall

The cigar began with a dry and spicy cedar. A toasted note and some black pepper, chalkiness and mustiness joined in at varying parts of the third. The second third saw the chalkiness and black pepper hop in and out of the profile and both were gone by the end of the third. The final third saw some dry earth join in and a slight mintiness at the end of the cigar. Construction was very good and strength was slightly below medium the whole way. The Nat Sherman Timeless Limited Edition 2019 had an average flavor profile throughout. Although there were a fair number of transitions, they were all fairly standard combinations. The Limited Editions from Nat Sherman for 2019 all seemed to match this level of enjoyment and probably won’t cause me to return as the price points are high and the enjoyment level could be found in any number of cigars with a lower price point.
