Appearance

The Dandy Brewing Company My Boy Lollipop pours the color of hazy blood orange, gradually fading to a light orange at the bottom of the glass.

Aroma

I’m smelling sourdough, which leaves me with a distinct Gose impression. Underneath the sour notes there are light notes of guava.

Flavor

With each sip I’m tasting sweet and sour, in combination with a creamy mouthfeel. The tastes are unusual and I can’t say I’ve had a beer experience quite like this. With each sip I find the unusual flavor combinations more enjoyable.

Balance

One of the most balanced beers I can recall in recently memory. Although both the sweetness and sour notes are intense, they are equally balanced throughout the tasting experience.

Finish

As each sip finishes, there’s a toasted barley flavor that immediately seeps in. The barley fades to a crisp and dry finish. That intense toasted barley starts to fade in intensity as the beer continues to warm up.

Overall

The Dandy Brewing Company My Boy Lollipop is such a funky beer and the flavor combinations are a refreshing change from any beer I’ve had in the past. Sweet, sour and then an interesting toasted barley finish that hits you out of nowhere.
