In a seemingly common move amongst online communities, reddit has now banned the transactions or gifts involving certain goods and services. These would include:
- Firearms, ammunition, or explosives
- Drugs, including alcohol and tobacco, or any controlled substances (except advertisements placed in accordance with our advertising policy)
- Paid services involving physical sexual contact
- Stolen goods
- Personal information
- Falsified official documents or currency
How this effects cigars is in the trading, gifting and contests around the popular reddit subs r/cigars, r/thepeoplesrcigars and others. The sub r/cigarmarketplace was completely shutdown as it’s main function was for the selling and trading of cigars.
It will be interesting to see what kind of effects this has on the cigar (and other) communities that this effects. It would be safe to assume that this traffic moves to other options like Facebook groups and the like. The side effect may be a significant drop in activity for these reddit subs.
