According to a story published by Cigar Aficionado today, Matt Booth has announced his return to the cigar industry. Earlier this year, Booth announced he was leaving Davidoff along with his Room101 brand that he still owns and the cigar world was abuzz with that news and wondering what this meant for the brand.
In multiple interviews, Booth had eluded to the fact that he would be returning and the question was where would he end up in regards to the manufacturing of his cigars. Today’s announcement clears that up as he will be working with Robert Caldwell on one cigar and Caldwell and AJ Fernandez on a second.
The cigar with Robert Caldwell only is called Hit & Run and will be made in the Dominican Republic at the William Ventura Factory. The blend will have an Ecuadoran Habano wrapper, Indonesian binder and Dominican filler. It will come in 5 vitolas.
The collaboration with Caldwell and AJ Fernandez is called Truth and will be made at Fernandez’s factory in Nicaragua and be a Nicaraguan puro. It will also be released in 5 vitolas and all will be box pressed.
Both cigars will have MSRP’s between $10 and $13. The Hit & Run is going to ship this month while the Truth will ship in September. These lines will not bear the Room101 brand name, but Booth did say that there may be some Room101 cigars coming in the future.
