I enjoyed the Joya de Nicaragua Antaño Gran Reserva GT20 and the flavor profile delivered, but it lacked some complexity and depth throughout. I feel like there have been enough variations of the Antaño over the years that you can compare it somewhat to Fuente’s Opus X. This comes off as the Angel’s Share for the brand.

The Presidente format of the Antaño Gran Reserva, like the Belicoso, is a tasty cigar. For such a big cigar, I would have appreciated more transitions. The good part is, the Presidente from start to finish was a good and consistent profile that will make the 2.5 hours of smoking time go by before you know it.

Cigar News: Joya de Nicaragua Announces Antaño Gran Reserva Presidente

The Antaño Gran Reserva Presidente will be available exclusively for TAA Members and it will retail at US$12.50 per stick. It will also be available in three sizes Robusto Grande Box-Pressed (5 1/2 x 52), Belicoso (6 x 54), and Gran Consul (4 3/4 x60). The 20-count box will begin shipping in May 2018.

The flavor and strength level started subtle and then eased higher the further I got into the cigar which is appreciated. Cedar and oak along with some baking spice made for a nice flavor profile. It was nice seeing this variation of the line and it is one that I will gladly smoke more of.
