I thought the first third on the Blackbird Flamingo was interesting, with balanced flavor combinations. The second third was still pleasant but lacked many of the flavors from the first third and the dynamic combinations. I found the last third enjoyable, but linear. I have another Blackbird Flamingo that I'm going to try to see how the experience compares to the reviewed cigar. The price point is attractive, and the Lancero format is something I enjoy.
The Blackbird Superb Toro started out with a promising first third that delivered some dynamic and engaging flavor combinations. The second third was much lighter and lacked the same level of engagement for me. The last third was pleasant but not able to live up to the first third. I found the Blackbird Superb Toro enjoyable to smoke and the price point is very reasonable considering the average pricing of the market. With that said, I'm not sure the cigar did enough for me to want to seek it out again.
Judging by the cover of the book, I thought a developing brand plus a high $16 price tag gave me a bit of an eye roll. But when I lit up the Blackbird Macaw and got through the first third, I was happy to be wrong. Beautifully spicy and sweet with a deep, long finish. Regrettably, the next two thirds didn't taste very good as there was too much harshness seeping through. Nice start, but it didn't finish strong.
