Pre-light Experience

Aaron: The wrapper on the Davidoff Escurio 10th Anniversary Limited Edition is medium brown and carries some decently raised veins. The seams are smooth and the caps well applied. There are two bands, with the primary being the traditional design for the brand, but in a black and silver color combination. The secondary is black, silver and green and denotes the anniversary being celebrated. The aroma from the wrapper is a very faint mix of wood and earth, while the foot brings cardboard and some earth. The pre-light draw is a mix of airy cedar, earth and floral notes along with a mild spiciness on my lips.
Seth: The Davidoff Escurio 10th Anniversary Limited Edition is a lovely cigar in hand. The cigar sports a lovely wrapper that is between Colorado and Colorado Maduro in coloring. It has that great dried tobacco coloring. Antique brown. The wrapper has some oily aspects and a fine grit texture. There are medium sized veins present throughout, and the cigar has a nice give in hand. The wrapper gives off a musty wood and barnyard aroma, and the foot gives off some earth and spice notes as well.
John: The Davidoff Escurio 10th Anniversary Limited Edition comes in cellophane with a UPC sticker that includes a perforated tear tab, designed to remain intact when opened, though it’s covered by an additional retailer UPC. The cigar features a primary Davidoff band and a secondary band noting the 2015–2025 10th Anniversary. I weighed the cigar at 20.1 grams and measured the humidity at 64.3% using the CigarMedics HumidiMeter Pro. I could detect aromas of sweet tobacco, mild barnyard and aged cedar from the wrapper. Focusing on the foot, I picked up extremely faint, possibly mild wood and hay.
Jiunn: The Davidoff Escurio 10th Anniversary Limited Edition has an even Colorado wrapper shade. It shows great consistency in coloration and texture. Veins are well pressed, seams tight, bunch and roll even and the head is well wrapped and capped. Pre-light aromas tell mixed nuts, minerals and a hint of ammonia.

First Third

Aaron: The cigar begins with toasted cedar, earth, black pepper and some mustiness. At a half inch in, the toast level is now pretty heavy. The retrohale is heavily toasted cedar, earth and lightly zingy black pepper. At an inch and a half in, some leather joins the profile. As the third comes to a close, the heavily toasted cedar is a bit ahead of the earth, with black pepper just ahead of the middle of the profile and the mustiness and leather just behind the middle of the profile. The strength was slightly above medium.
Seth: The first third opens with musty barnyard and earth notes. There are some sweet aspects of the earth, but also some sweetness from this currant profile. Nuts, coffee and leather are also present with herbal and floral creaminess on the finish. There is a nice, sweet cinnamon spice present on the finish. The strength and body are at a level between medium and medium-full.
John: The cigar opens with sweet bread leading the profile, followed by faint tannic wood on the finish, which is initially overwhelmed by creamy sweet tobacco on the post draw. As the sweetness fades, wood tannins return and linger on the palate. The signature Davidoff musty mushroom tobacco note begins to emerge on the finish as the first third moves toward the halfway mark.
Jiunn: The first thing that grabs my attention is how naturally sweet the profile is. Typically, it’s the savory flavors that engage me for more draws, but this time it’s the sweet notes. High level of vanilla wafer sweetness mixed with ripened prunes. Retrohaling brings out spice in the form of spicy cedar, but there’s also a unique dusty wood basement type of vibe. The finish is short and clean with aged cedar. Strength and body is medium.

Second Third

Aaron: As the second third begins, the black pepper mellows a bit. At a half inch in, the toast level lightens up a bit. At three quarters of an inch in, the mustiness and leather both increase a bit. The retrohale is now toasted cedar, earth along with some black pepper and mustiness. At an inch and a quarter, the pepper has mellowed a bit more. As the third comes to a close, the toasted cedar is up front, with the earth a bit behind. The leather and mustiness is in the middle of the profile with the black pepper right behind. The strength remains at slightly above medium.
Seth: The second third is fairly in line with the first. There is a little more spice, leather and coffee in this third, but the core musty barnyard, earth and nuts remain. The sweet cinnamon spice is present with herbal and floral creaminess on the finish. Like before, the cigar is smoking between medium and medium-full.
John: The second third begins with a balanced mix of creamy bread and wood, with mildly tannic wood finishing the draw. The wood takes on a slightly sharp edge through the center of the retrohale. I find the profile remains consistent as it approaches the halfway point. Towards the end of the third, the post draw tannic wood increases to medium-minus strength, leading into the final third.
Jiunn: The second third swaps some of the sweetness to show more minerals. In a way, this creates a greater balance to the profile. Pencil lead minerality followed by vanilla wafers, mixed nuts and spicy cedar on the retrohale. The finish also lengthens, showing the same minerality and aged cedar. Strength and body remain medium.

Final Third

Aaron: As the final third begins, the black pepper is now very mellow. At a half inch in, the toast level becomes pretty heavy again. The retrohale is now toasted cedar, earth, leather and some mild black pepper and mustiness. At an inch in, the black pepper has departed. At an inch and a quarter, a vegetal note joins the profile. As the cigar wraps up, the heavily toasted cedar is a bit ahead of the earth, with mustiness and leather in the middle of the profile and a vegetal note a bit behind. The strength remained at slightly above medium.
Seth: The final third delivers that core musty barnyard and earth profile. Sweet currants are still present with some leather, coffee and nuts. The sweet cinnamon spice shows some additional pepper qualities in this third, and the cigar has that herbal and floral creaminess on the finish. Like the first two thirds, the cigar smokes between a medium and medium-full level.
John: The last third opens with creamy tobacco, mild earth and bread. A sharper tannic wood note enters the center and carries through the finish. Bread makes a return in the retrohale, providing a momentary sweetness. By the halfway point of the final third, tannic wood has fully taken over the post draw.
Jiunn: The final third becomes too mineral and cedar focused such that the sweetness is entirely absent. The best part at this point is the retrohale as it gives a nice jolt of spicy cedar. Strength and body finishes medium.

Burn

Aaron: The burn was a bit wavy at times, but never needed any attention. The ash held on in inch and a quarter increments.
Seth: The burn was good from beginning to end.
John: The burn remained perfectly straight throughout the entire smoking session. No touch-ups or re-lights were required.
Jiunn: Burn performance was spot on. Even burn, tight ashes and cool burning temperature.

Draw

Aaron: The draw was perfect, with just the right amount of resistance that I prefer.
Seth: The draw was perfect throughout.
John: Measured at 56 inches of water with the CigarMedics draw machine. Subjectively, the draw was 2½ to 3 notches toward the resistant spectrum, offering a snug but manageable resistance.
Jiunn: The draw was also spot on, providing the ideal balance of air flow and resistance.

Overall

Aaron: The cigar began with toasted cedar, earth, black pepper and some mustiness. The toast level quickly became heavy. Some leather joined in a bit later. The second third saw the pepper and toast level lighten up a bit while the mustiness and leather both increased. The final third saw the pepper mellow until it departed and a vegetal note joined the profile. The Davidoff Escurio 10th Anniversary Limited Edition had an average flavor profile throughout, focused around heavily toasted cedar and earth. The supporting components never did enough to elevate the profile. This is a very expensive cigar that didn’t really wow me. It’s been quite a while since I smoked an Escurio, so I’m not really sure how it matches up, but I wouldn’t really see myself coming back to this one.
Seth: I really enjoyed the Davidoff Escurio 10th Anniversary Limited Edition, and this is my favorite vitola ahead of the Corona Gorda. The cigar was complex and balanced throughout. The body and strength paired well with the flavors, and it kept my interest from beginning to end despite the larger size. It felt like a big cigar, but I enjoy that with a limited release especially if it has a little more overall in terms of the profile. The musty barnyard, earth, sweet spices and creamy aspects were great throughout, and they were a good base for the additional flavors throughout of coffee, nuts and sweet currants.
John: The Davidoff Escurio 10th Anniversary Limited Edition opens with elegance, delivering sweet bread, creamy tobacco and that iconic musty mushroom note Davidoff fans will recognize. While the first third shines with nuance and complexity, the second and final thirds become more static, gradually dominated by tannic wood that overtakes the more delicate notes of bread and earth. The construction is excellent, with a flawless burn and a slightly firm draw that still performs enough to produce consistent smoke output. While the first third carries the sophistication expected from Davidoff, it ultimately falls into a middle-ground performance, making it an okay, though not standout, anniversary release. Total smoking time was 2 hours and 15 minutes.
Jiunn: This is the “newer” age Davidoff that I miss. The era in which Davidoff did awesome blends releasing the Nicaragua, Yamasa and Escurio. I find this Davidoff Escurio 10th Anniversary Limited Edition to be bolder in flavors and although expensive AF, it was a pleasure to go through every draw. I definitely wouldn’t turn down more of these on more special occasions.
