Pre-light Experience

The wrapper on the Warped Eagles Descent 2022 is light brown and has a network of lightly raised veins. The seams are smooth and the caps very well applied. The band is primarily black with some blue, pink and orange. It denotes the line name on the front and the company on the sides. The aroma from the wrapper is a light, general wood note while the foot brings slightly musty cedar. The pre-light draw brings a dry and gritty cedar.

First Third

The cigar begins with toasted cedar and bold baking spice. At a quarter inch in, a light earth joins the profile as the baking spice has mellowed. The retrohale is a mirror image of the mouth draws. At an inch in, the earth is now a bit behind the toasted cedar while the baking spice is in the background. As the third comes to a close, the toasted cedar is slightly ahead of the earth while the baking spice is in the background. The strength is right at medium.

Second Third

As the second third begins, the overall profile is a bit dry. At a half inch in, the baking spice has transitioned to black pepper. The retrohale is now just toasted cedar and earth. As the third comes to a close, the toasted cedar is just ahead of the earth, with black pepper in the background. The strength remained at medium.

Final Third

As the final third begins, a light vegetal note joins the profile. The retrohale remains toasted cedar and earth. At an inch in, the vegetal note now has a light mintiness to it. As the cigar wraps up, the toasted cedar remains up front with the earth and vegetal mintiness a bit behind and black pepper in the background. The strength bumped up to slightly above medium.

Burn

The burn was a bit wavy at times, and the cigar went out once, requiring a re-light. The ash held on in inch and a half increments.

Draw

The draw was slightly tighter than I prefer, but didn’t cause any issues with the smoking experience.

Overall

The cigar began with toasted cedar and bold baking spice. Some earth joined in fairly quickly. The second third saw the profile become a bit dry and the baking spice transitioned to black pepper. The final third saw a vegetal note join in, that later gained a mintiness. The Warped Eagles Descent 2022 had a fairly simple and average flavor profile throughout. It was a bit dry and could have used some sweetness to liven things up a bit. Not a cigar that is all that intriguing and not something I really see myself coming back to.
