Pre-light Experience
The wrapper on the Lost and Found 22 Minutes to Midnight Connecticut Radiante Robusto is medium tan with some lightly raised veins. The seams are smooth and the caps well applied. The band is white and carries the brand logo and the time 22:38. The aroma from the wrapper is young hay, while the foot brings lightly sweet hay and earth. The pre-light draw is an airy mix of floral notes and cedar.
First Third
The cigar begins with an interesting mix of toasted cedar, earth, mushroom mustiness and floral notes. The retrohale is a light mix of toasted cedar, earth and faint black pepper. At three quarters of an inch in, some hay joins the profile. As the third comes to a close, the toasted cedar is up front, with a mix of earth, hay, mushroom mustiness and floral notes a bit behind. The strength was slightly below medium.
Second Third
As the second third begins, the toast level increases, and the overall profile is a bit drying. At a half inch in, a light chalkiness becomes present. The retrohale remains toasted cedar, earth and light black pepper. As the third comes to a close, the toasted cedar is up front with some earth and hay a bit behind while the mushroom mustiness, floral notes and chalkiness are very subtle in the background. The strength remained at slightly below medium.
Final Third
As the final third begins, the mushroom mustiness and floral notes have departed. At a half inch in, a light floral note returns. The retrohale is now just toasted cedar and light earth. As the cigar wraps up, the toasted cedar remains up front, with earth and hay a bit behind and light floral note in the background. The strength remained at slightly below medium.
Draw
The draw was slightly looser than I prefer and may have contributed a bit to the burn issues.
Overall
The cigar began with an interesting mix of toasted cedar, earth, mushroom mustiness and floral notes. Some hay joined a bit later. The second third saw some chalkiness join in. The final third saw the mushroom mustiness and floral notes depart, but then the floral notes rejoined a while later. The Lost and Found 22 Minutes to Midnight Connecticut Radiante Robusto had a nice start with a unique flavor profile. I feel like the burn issues may have taken their toll in the second third as the flavor profile degraded. I’d be interested in coming back to this to see if a better burning version could extend the flavor notes from the first third longer through the smoking experience, but from this initial experience, I don’t think I experienced what the cigar may really have to offer.
