Pre-light Experience

The wrapper on the Camacho Factory Unleashed 3 is milk chocolate brown, carrying thick and knotty veins along with a fine grit sandpaper texture. The wrapper stops near a half inch short of the foot, with an exposed dark tan binder. The seams are slightly raised and the caps are decently applied. The band is white, silver, black and red and denotes the brand and line. The aroma from the wrapper is dark earth, cocoa powder and mild spice while the foot brings milk chocolate, earth and barbecue smokiness. The pre-light draw brings cedar, earth and floral perfume. All of these components put together quite the presentation.

First Third

The cigar begins with a heavy dose of cedar along with some earth. Once the burn hits the wrapper, the earth becomes dark and some baking spice joins in. At two thirds of an inch in, the dark earth has a slight lead over the cedar which now has a light toast. Soon after, the baking spice picks up a bit. The retrohale is musty, toasted cedar along with an earth/spice mixture. At an inch in, a light cocoa powder becomes present. At an inch and a half in, the baking spice is now even with the toasted cedar. As the third comes to a close, the dark earth is slightly ahead of the toasted cedar and baking spice with cocoa powder in the background. The strength was slightly above medium.

Second Third

As the second third begins, the earth and toasted cedar are now even, and the baking spice has backed off a bit. At a half inch in, the cocoa powder transitions to bakers chocolate. At three quarters of an inch in, the baking spice is now in the background. The retrohale is now toasted cedar, earth and mild baking spice. At an inch and a half in, the bakers chocolate has departed and the baking spice has transitioned to black pepper and increased in fullness. As the third comes to a close, the toasted cedar and dark earth are even up front, with the black pepper a bit behind. The strength remained at slightly above medium.

Final Third

As the final third begins, a light cocoa powder rejoins the profile. At a half inch in, the black pepper picks up a bit. The retrohale is now just toasted cedar and earth. At an inch in, the toast level increases a bit. At an inch and a quarter, the cocoa powder has dropped out and some wood bitterness at a medium level has joined in. As the cigar wraps up, the toasted cedar and dark earth are even up front with black pepper and wood bitterness a bit behind. The strength bumped up to medium-full.

Burn

The burn was a bit wavy at times and the cigar went out once, requiring a re-light. The ash held on in near two inch increments.

Draw

The draw was slightly tighter than I prefer, but didn’t cause any issues with the smoking experience.

Overall

The cigar began with a heavy dose of cedar along with some earth. Once the burn hit the wrapper the earth became dark and some baking spice joined in. A light cocoa powder joined a bit later. The second third saw the cocoa powder transition to bakers chocolate for a bit and then departed. The baking spice transitioned to black pepper. The final third saw some cocoa powder rejoin for a bit and some wood bitterness join in. The Camacho Factory Unleashed 3 started well, with a fair amount of transitioning. From the second third on, the flavor profile was average as some components dropped out and the combination wasn’t as exciting. This is probably the best of the Factory Unleashed series in my opinion. While it’s not something I’d come back to that frequently, the lower price point does make it worthwhile to come back to from time to time.
