Appearance
The Parallel 49 / Blindman Zombies Ate My Brewery! comes in a craft collaboration pack with 1950’s style monster and horror movie themes. This particular iteration is in a can with a decaying zombie against a white background with 50’s style movie font. The beer pours a bright orange, which reminds me of other hazy IPA’s I’ve had previously.
Aroma
The aroma is bright citrus notes of pineapple and a medley of other tropical fruits. Nosing this beer has me eager to take a sip.
Flavor
With each sip, I taste pineapple, light and bitter hoppy notes, with a great creaminess underneath the flavors.
Balance
The intense citrus, bitter and sour citrus and hops, and the sweet creamy notes all manage to balance each other well. No one note is stronger than the other, or overpowers the palate.
Finish
Like the main body of the beer, it finishes with an intense citrus flavor and then a sour and bitter citrus chaser.
Overall
Usually when I see brewery collaborations like the Parallel 49 / Blindman Zombies Ate My Brewery!, I stay clear, as I haven’t had enjoyable experiences in the past. This collaboration between Parallel 49 Brewing and Blindman Brewing hits all on some great high notes, satisfying my palate with great citrus complexity that doesn’t become fatiguing. The artwork and design behind the cans and the packaging is interesting and well designed. I’m looking forward to working my way through all 4 in the series.
