John McTavish
Aroma
The aroma was brown sugar and fresh cut oranges. Nothing really stood out on the aroma, I found it to be fairly average.
Flavor
The Rigor Mortis hits your palate with big boozy malts that move into a brown sugar that has almost a toasted quality. The mouthfeel is in the sweet spot, not too viscous or thin.
Balance
The Rigor Mortis is very booze forward and I found myself having to push my palate beyond that character in order to pick up any subtle flavor notes.
Finish
The finish is medium length. I get an initial intense sweetness that fades to lingering heavy boozy notes. As I progress, the post sip boozy finish intensifies.

Overall
I’m a big fan of Dieu du Ciel! offerings in general. I never hesitate to grab them off the shelf, especially if I see something I haven’t tried before. With that said, the Dieu du Ciel! Rigor Mortis is good, but the booze forward nature of the tasting holds it back from being elevated to a higher score. I found it challenging to move past that boozy character and find nuances or other flavors that made it stand out from the pack.
