I can confidently say the Belching Beaver Sour Series Batch No. 5 is one of the best sours I've had in recent memory. Although it does carry a premium price tag, I'm happy to have picked this one up as the experience was well worth it.
Like the Mexican Peanut Butter Stout, the peanut butter flavor is not an adjunct that is an afterthought like so many flavor themed beers. Although this Belching Beaver Peanut Butter Milk Stout might lack some of the depths and nuance of their other styles, the overall experience is fantastic.
The Peanut Butter Latte is by far the most sessionable of the Belching Beaver Peanut Butter series. The flavors aren't as bold or palate assailing as the other two styles I've tried. Although the beer rated lower overall, I would rather have two of the Belching Beaver Peanut Butter Lattes back to back in a social setting.
Not only does the Mexican Chocolate Peanut Butter Stout deliver on big peanut butter and chocolate, but it also gives you the cinnamon and complexity that comes with Mexican hot chocolate. I won't hesitate to pick up another Belching Beaver Mexican Chocolate Peanut Butter Stout on my next visit to my local bottle shop.
